How to give canvas texture?

What is used to give canvasses texture?


what materials are used?


Can plaster be used? and if yes do you have to apply a type of glue to attach it?

Don't use plaster, it will chip %26amp; flake off. Get a ';palatte knife'; %26amp; ';Gesso'; (for lighter texture) or ';texturing gels'; (for variety of textures) from any art supply store, (Added links below you can view the different products available) they also have texturing materials specifically for this. Use the p' knife to scrape on the gesso or texturing compounds, let it dry completely (Usually over night) %26amp; then you can paint ontop of that. (You can also sand it or add more texture after it dries.
